English Transcript:

Hello! My name is Jamison Oslund. This is a short biography about who I am. I was born in Colombia, then adopted and raised in Minnesota, currently in DC. I graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work with an emphasis in Student Success. I worked with the Student Success Department at Gallaudet University for two years. From that experience, I enjoyed working with students during their first year at Gallaudet, which is how I developed my passion for being an advocate for deaf people in higher education.

Now, I am a first-year graduate student at Gallaudet University studying International Development. My specialization is Inclusive Higher Education. In my research, I discovered that there is a lack of information and documents about Inclusive Higher Education and Deaf and People with Disabilities in the world.

Which led me to establish this advocacy resource file website. I want to acknowledge that the issues of inclusive education in higher education for deaf and people with disabilities in the world. I also feel that it is important for all intersectional students to have the right to access learning opportunities in higher education and beyond.

Without this opportunity to inclusive higher education, deaf and people with disabilities would continue to face barriers, oppressions, discrimination, and negative and perceptions by society.

I aim to change that. It is my passion to be an advocate for deaf people and students with disabilities to continue higher education and see them thrive and succeed to have a better future.
